About shooters

Good meat deserves time.

Shooters Supreme Meat Processing is a small, boutique meat processing workshop in Ōtaki, run by Deane for people who care about where their food comes from and what happens to it after the animal leaves the paddock.

The idea behind Shooters is pretty simple:

Slow it down. Take the time. Do it properly.

It’s about the craft

For Deane, meat processing isn’t about getting as many animals through the door as possible.

He enjoys the process.

The ageing. The different cuts. Talking with customers. Finding better ways to use an animal. And ultimately handing back meat that someone is genuinely excited to cook and eat.

Keeping Shooters small means there’s time to do that.

For people who have put the work in

A lot of our customers are lifestyle block owners.

They’ve raised an animal for two or three years. They’ve fed it, looked after it and know exactly where their food has come from.

We think the processing should respect the work that’s already gone into it.

That’s why we encourage customers to be involved, ask questions and learn about the different options available.

Come into the workshop

We’re not trying to hide the process behind closed doors.

Come in and see the workshop.

Talk to Deane about your animal, tell him what you like to eat and ask about cuts you’ve never heard of before.

You can even come in before you have an animal ready and have a conversation about what you could do with it when the time comes.

Done right. With care.

Shooters is fully registered and operates to the required standards.

But we’re also big believers that doing things right comes down to caring about the end result.

No rushing.

No production-line mentality.

Just good old-fashioned care, knowledge and respect for the animal.

If that’s how you think your meat should be treated, come and have a chat with Deane.
